David Haddad, president of WB Games Announced on Rocksteady’s website today the video game developer’s co-founders Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker are leaving the studio at the end of 2022. Batman: Arkham series is gearing up to release its much-anticipated spin-off, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguein 2023.

“With Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Almost done, they both have decided to leave Rocksteady at the end of 2022 and will embark on a new adventure on the playground,” Haddad wrote in the announcement. Haddad didn’t share details of “what they’ll do next,” but Hill and Walker, who founded Rocksteady in 2004, may have wanted to redo the whole thing. They were still an active part of the studio, with Hill most recently Suicide Squadgame director. They are replaced by production director Nathan Burlow, whom Haddad calls the “original founding member” promoted to studio director, and Darius Sadeghian, who will become studio product director.

“Nathan and Darius are extremely talented managers and passionate about maintaining Rocksteady’s high-quality game development. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and all future games,” Haddad wrote.

In the announcement of their sudden departure, Hill and Walker wrote: “From the day we founded the company in 2004, Rocksteady has been our life and our soul. It has given us the opportunity to do what we love most: making great games with people who are extraordinarily talented.”

Highlighting the community at Rocksteady, Hill and Walker said, “There’s something extra special at Rocksteady that goes beyond the games we make, and everyone who works here feels it.”
